Buyer's Guide for using Sportacus

1. Buying

Step 1 Register
To Buy items on this site you need to be a registered Sportacus user. Registration is fast and easy. Click on the “Register” link in the Top Menu.

Step 2 Log in

Step 3: Find an item
Search for an item using the "enter Keywords" box,

or browse the categories and sub-categories to find your item.You can click on +  next to the main categories to open up subcategories; or click on main category for an overview of the subcategories.

Step 4: Read item Description
Once you have found your item, click on the title to reach the “Item description”. Read this info carefully. Take note of the item, transaction and seller's details. Know the 'Warranties', 'Guarantees', 'Payment Methods' offered and the 'Shipping info'.

Step 5: Place and Confirm your Order
Once you have read the “Item description” click on "Buy It Now" or "Bid Now" to place your order/bid. If you have not logged in yet, you will be prompted to do so at this point. Select the 'Payment Method', specify the 'Shipping Details' and confirm your order/bid.

Note: If you have not given your contact details when you registered, you will be asked to do so before the "Order/Bid Confirmation". 

Enter the bid amount, or Maximum BID if Proxy bidding (select check box if proxy bidding). Similar to the proxy bidding system used by eBay, where the winner pays the lesser of their actual bid and the second-highest bid plus one bidding increment. Proxy is your max bid. Let's say the item start bid is R400, you Proxy bid R 600.. If there are no other bids you get it for R400. If someone bids R500, it will automatic increase your bid to the next bid increment. The next step is to wait to the end of the auction. You will be notified of the progress, if someone outbids you, if you win, etc.

2.  How do I ask the seller a Question?

To use this feature you must be a registered user. If you have a general question select Instant message from the user menu. Sportacus.co.za will send an e-mail to the other person notifying them that they have a message. If you have a question about an item, first view the auction.  Next select the Message tab:

The Auction Messages tab generates a PRIVATE message between buyer and seller. No one else can see these messages. When sending a message the AuctionSite will send an eMail to receiving party notifying them of a new message.   

3. How to Rate Seller/Buyer? 

The auction is over, how do I rate buyer/seller? It is important to rate Buyers & Sellers after a transaction. Not just out of a personal point of view, but also to get the respectability of Sportacus.co.za right up there with the best.  Buyer should be rated after payment is received. Seller should be rated after buyer receives item.

To do this, go to the auction that completed. Both parties can go to the link from the received Email. If you cannot find the e-Mail, then go to My Profile, My Auctions. Buyer can go to My Bids, then change drop down to Archived (closed auctions.)
