Mark Webber was leading the Turkish Grand Prix  for Red Bull 1-2, with the two McLarens not far off the pace when the race suddenly turned on its head on lap 41.

Team mate, Sebastian Vettel attempted a passing-move on Webber but then moved across Webber and the two made contact. The German spun off and was forced to retire while Webber had to return to the pits for emergency repairs.

The accident left the door open for Lewis Hamilton to lead Jenson Button home for a McLaren 1-2. It was Hamilton’s first win of the 2010 season.

The contact made with Vettel left Webber to pit for a new front wing but he still came out in front of Schumacher who was in fourth. As a result, he still leads the world championship with 93 points to Button’s 88 and Hamilton’s 84, while Ferrari’s Fernando Alonso is fourth on 79 from Vettel on 78.

Other Mercedes driver Nico Rosberg finished fifth ahead of Renault’s Robert Kubica and Ferrari’s Felipe Massa who had a race-long battle for sixth.
