Privacy Policy and Security Disclosure Statement: Sportacus.co.za (herein referred to as Sportacus.co.za, us, we our, this website) is committed to your personal privacy and website security. Your privacy is important to us so we have created the following Privacy Policy to let you know what information we collect when you visit our auction site, why we collect it, and how it is used. Also included on this page are some statements regarding your account and website security.

Information We Gather: The information we keep on file for you is used to help you process your orders and transactions.

Your account profile contains basic information such as your name, mailing address, email address and telephone number. Your account information is not publicly visible to members who have not entered into a legal contract (or otherwise engaged in commerce) with you, such as bidding on your items for sale.

It will be necessary for you to maintain a working email address and correct phone number at all times because members who do not have a working email address or phone number will not be allowed to use our website. This is for the safety and security of all member transactions so that nobody is 'burned' by a bogus buyer or seller. Members that have bad email addresses may be called on telephone by a Sportacus staff member to ask you for a working email address. If your account does not contain at least a valid email address or you are unable to be reached, your account may be deleted without notice to you. If you are curious as to the exact information we collect, please visit our registration page

Members may also enter their credit card information but this is optional. If you decide to upgrade your item for sale, there are some small fees for optional extra services (as explained on our fees page). Members are encouraged to have a working credit card email address on file to easily pay these fees, but having these two payment methods on file is not mandatory as you will be invoiced only if your account has accumulated any charges.

Special Note Regarding Children: Children (persons under the age of 18) are not eligible to use this website unsupervised and we require that children do not submit any personal information to us; if the child wishes to use our website, then the account under which they wish to use must be in the name of the legal guardian along with a written consent by the adult responsible for the account stating their acknowledgment of the minor to use their financial information. If you are under the age of 18, you may only use this website in conjunction with and under the supervision of your parent or legal guardians because all transaction here are binding legal agreements.

Information We Share: We do not share, sell, rent or give out your personal information to anyone for any reason unless under a legal court order to do so. Your email address, credit card, or any other account information will not be given out to anyone for solicitation. We only keep your information on file for the normal course of operation for this website and transactions placed on it. Sometimes it may be necessary to contact you and or provide your information to others, but only as described below:
If an Sportacus member wants to contact you to complete a transaction that has transpired on this website, we may provide your phone number, email or mailing address to them but not your credit card or other financial information.

Additionally, we maintain physical and procedural safeguards to guard such information such as keeping the server up to date, patched, secured and monitored 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. It is also highly recommended that you use strong passwords to further protect your account information. Do Not use common words or other things that could be easily guessed. A strong password, should be 6-10 alpha-numeric characters such as both upper and lower case letters and numbers.

Your consent to this policy: It is your responsibility to be aware of our current security and privacy policies such as has been been explained here and by using this website, you agree to hold us harmless and not responsible for any loss that you could endure with this website (or anywhere else over the Internet) should something happen to compromise your account.
