Brazil overtook Spain as world no1 in the latest FIFA rankings, while Bafana dropped two places.

It is the seventh time since the inception of the rankings in 1993 that Brazil have held top spot and takes their total time at the top to 143 months.

Bafana Bafana, who have not has just played friendlies since the beginning of the year, slipped two spots to 90th.

World Cup semi-finalists Portugal went up a spot to sit third, swapping places with the Netherlands. Argentina rose two places to move to seventh place, while France dropped two spots to fall to 10th in the most notable changes in the top 10.

Only five matches counted toward April rankings, meaning most of the changes were due to the devaluation of past results. Next ranking release is 26 May 2010.
