The final round Absa Currie Cup matches will be played this weekend and so much is still up for grabs.
The Sharks & Western Province has already secured home semis, but who will finish on top is another question. Third and fourth positions will be battled out between the Bulls, Griquas and the Cheetahs.
The Sharks, second on the log only by points difference travel to Kimberley for a crucial match. Sharks need to win, and win well if they want to move to the top. Griquas, renowned for being a difficult team on home soil, needs at least two points to stay in the top four and edge out the Cheetahs for a place in the semis.
Another cracker of a game will be the last game on Saturday between the Lions and WP at Coca Cola Park, Johannesburg. The Lions is already out of contention, but showed last week they won’t back down as they narrowly lost to the Sharks. The WP needs to win and if the Sharks pick up a bonus point so will they, to stay on top.
Friday night the Bulls play in Rustenburg against the Leopards. The Bulls will feel confidant that they can beat their hosts, but will have to be wary as the Leopards showed that they can be a tricky encounter at stages. The Bulls can only finish third on the log, but will want to secure that position without risking any injuries to their top players.
The Cheetahs travel to Boland. Their game will be played the same time as their main rivals for fourth position. Their task is a little bit easier than the Griquas and would like to pick up 5 points to move into fourth.
Loyal supporters will tell you they believe their respective teams can pull it through and make it to the top or finish in the top four. All I know is this weekend I will be glued to the television as the action unfolds.
