Leicester Tigers ensured that the Springboks got their European tour off to the worst possible start by beating the visitors 22-17 at Welford Road in Leicester on Friday.
Leicester, playing without six England internationals and nine first-choice players, gave the South Africans a rugby lesson in all departments of the game. They demolished the Springbok scrum time after time with Martín Castrogiovanni the hero. He exposed Gürthro Steenkamp and co`s inability to scrum forcefully.
They were also better in the line-outs, better in the mauls and although a few decisions from Stuart Dickenson could be questioned at the break down, it was the numbers of the Tigers that overwhelmed the Boks.
Ruan Pienaar and Earl Rose was also guilty of not kicking the ball with accuracy when kicking for field advantage. One such kick from Pienaar led a Leicester try and ultimately their come back from being 8-0 down.
Overall a dismal performance from the Boks
