Ian McIntosh Was Fired For Less Than This!

I have always felt that Ian Mac got a particularly raw deal when following a series defeat to the All Blacks in New Zealand in mid-1994 he was sacked. A few months later most of that team became world champions and Ian Mac’s reputation as one of the world’s best coaches never reached it's full potential.

PDV has had ample time and players but two thumpings by the AB’s and only the brave seem to be whispering that he should go and go quickly before the 2011 WC.

It is clear that the composition of the team is dreadful at the moment with some glaring problems that were not addressed since the first test match. Jean de Villiers is as much use on the wing as a chocolate teapot and is being made to look like a complete amateur who is repeatedly caught out of position. His addiction to prance around trying to intercept the ball is the stuff you expect in a touch rugby game played by surfers on Durban’s beaches and not by what was once one of the finest centres in world rugby. Frankly it is embarressing.

JDV’s replacement Aplon although full of courage was so easily taken care of by the AB’s that he looked like an accident waiting to happen.  Personally I think if Aplon is going to play then he needs to stay at fullback because anyone is better than Zane Kirchner who only looks good playing behind the mighty Bulls team and is simply found wanting at the highest level.

Wynand Olivier was virtually nonexistent and how he manages to get picked week in and week out is a complete mystery! He is as much use as a glass hammer and along with the hot and cold Ricky Januarie the entire backline was rendered impotent with not even Habana able make use of the little ball that he received.

Then there is the ill-discipline and one would have believed that following the Bakkies headbutt that everyone would be on best behaviour. Yet the Springboks refuse to want to play with 15 men on the park and you can be virtually guaranteed that someone is going to punch or kick and get sin binned. Pathetic.

Many are calling for a new captain as if a team without John Smit is going to suddenly behave and play winning rugby, but I don’t see it. It is not the captain who headbutted or kicked nor is it the captain who is trying to intercept the ball on the wing. It is not John Smit who is only 70kgs and driven backwards with a sneeze.  No it is PDivvy who has to answer just why the team is playing like they are.

If Ian Mac was fired for a series defeat to the AB’s only months before the World Cup why should PDV not be painted with the same brush?

avatar After the brilliant S14 we had, I expected a lot better from SA. With the players at our disposal we should dominating every team man by man, but if you have a crooked gameplan and coaches (Div & Muir) with no imagination you cant win.

Pick the right players, run the bleddie ball and score tries. Simple as that.

Stop whining about the ref, yellow cards and this and that. Danie Craven used to say that a team should be good enough to win even with a unfair ref!

avatar If Div learned one thing this weekend, lets hope that it is that Pienaar should play scrumhalf. As soon as he came on we got quicker, better ball to play with.

A better preformance, but the AB`s is WAY BETTER than us at the moment.!

Boks were pathetic. But the players are not to blame. Dick Muir has brought his cancerous ideas from the Lions to the Boks. No defence to speak of and when we the backline get the ball there is no clear attcking plan.

Div talked about "total rugby" when he started. Have we EVER seen it? NO. Get rid of the coaching team, bring in new blood and lets start building for the 2011RWC.

Same old story. Ill discipline, missed tackles and everyone clueless when attacking.
We have a huge problem, as long as Div is there (and he wont be fired) the Boks is going nowhere fast.
It is up to us as the supporters to strike and let the sponsors know how we feel. They have the power to put pressure on SArugby to make the changes.

Sport Brain  - The colour in the Sport of rugby   |2010-09-03 17:37:32
It is no secret that the reason PDV is still a coach is because of his color if he was White as Jake White Khompela from Parliament would had made a noise by now. Oregan Hoskins is failing our rugby by looking at the skin tone instead on the field oh again he's also black. Why Ricky is still on the team? answer: his skin tone works for him. Black people they say rugby belongs to white people the same people cannot fill the stadium to support the BEE coach. We cannot let our rugby to be ANC zone if we had to lets mot go in stadium to watch the failure (PDV) putting us in shame. For those who believe in skin tones I'm black also but support sport more than the skin tone
